Re-roofing & Full Re-roofs

There's a point where repairing a roof is throwing good money after bad: the old felt has perished, the battens are soft, half the nails have rusted and every storm brings down another tile. That's a re-roof. Done once, done properly, it's a 40–60 year job.

What a full re-roof includes

• Scaffold so the work is done safely and to standard — never off ladders.
• Full strip of the old covering, felt and battens back to the rafters, with the timbers inspected as we go.
• New breathable membrane for a ventilated, condensation-free loft.
• New treated battens gauged to the covering.
• Re-covering in your chosen slate or tile, with dry-fixed ridges and verges to current standards.
• New leadwork to chimneys, abutments and valleys as needed.

On the 1930s semis

A huge share of Stockport's housing — the bay-fronted semis all through Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Hazel Grove — is now at the age where the original roofs are giving up together.
